How Long Does It Take To Fully Charge Ryobi Batteries (And How Long Do They Last)?

When choosing a battery system, it’s important to consider how long the batteries take to charge. This question may seem straightforward, but there are multiple factors to consider before getting a clear answer. Firstly, Ryobi produces batteries with different ampere-hour capacities, leading to variations in charging time. Additionally, the type of charger used can also affect the charging rate.

Budget Tool Reviews tested the time it took to recharge a fully drained 18V 4Ah One+ battery using the Dual Chemistry IntelliPort Charger. They found that it took about an hour and twenty minutes (around 20 minutes per Ah) to fully charge the battery from zero. This aligns with Ryobi’s claim that the charger can recharge a 1.5Ah Ryobi battery in 30 minutes, indicating that a 6Ah battery would need approximately 100 minutes and an 8Ah battery would require two hours to charge using this charger.

However, other chargers may yield different results. YouTuber DrB DIY tested the stock charger and found that it took 45 minutes to charge a 1.5Ah battery, which is 50% slower than the Dual Chemistry IntelliPort Charger. Moreover, Ryobi now offers high-performance ‘Fast Chargers’ that are claimed to charge batteries two times faster, making them particularly suitable for high Ah capacity batteries.
