2024 KTM 790 Adventure Storms Into US Market

When KTM launched the 790 Adventure in 2017, it redefined the middleweight adventure bike segment. At the time, there were limited options for a lightweight and agile adventure bike with good off-road capability, such as the Suzuki V-Strom 650 or a BMW F 800 GS.

The KTM 790 Adventure played a significant role in expanding the range of middleweight adventure bikes focused on off-road performance. It has now been confirmed for the 2024 model-year, despite being succeeded by the highly acclaimed 890 Adventure R.

After being thought to be phased out, the 790 range now serves as KTM’s entry-level/intermediate product, bridging the gap between the 390 and 890 lineups. The 2024 790 Adventure promises the same performance-oriented platform, with improvements and updates made in Austria to enhance rideability and performance.

KTM has increased the rotating mass by 20 percent for improved stability, and added new throttle bodies for better combustion and fuel efficiency. The bike also comes with an improved Quickshifter+ for faster shifting.

On the technology front, the 2024 KTM 790 Adventure inherits premium features from the 890 Adventure R, including automatic ABS programming that works with Ride Modes, an improved clutch, bigger airbox, and 6D sensor for enhanced dynamics on various terrains. Additionally, KTM has refined the bike’s WP suspension and steel trellis frame for improved comfort and performance.
