Lotus, the British sports car manufacturer founded by Colin Chapman 75 years ago, is known for many things, but producing high volumes of cars is not one of them. However, that perception is about to change.

In the first six months of this year, Lotus has received approximately 17,000 orders for its vehicles worldwide, a remarkable milestone for the company. This number significantly exceeds the mere 576 cars sold throughout the entirety of last year.

The primary factor behind this extraordinary improvement is the introduction of the all-electric Eletre SUV. The Eletre made its debut in the spring of 2022 and was made available to Chinese customers at the end of March. Deliveries to the UK and Europe are scheduled to commence later this summer.
