MG affords the Astor with two engine choices: a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine (140 PS/220 Nm) and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (110 PS/144 Nm). The former is mated solely to a 6-speed automated, whereas the latter will get both a 6-speed handbook or a CVT (automated).

The MG Astor is priced between Rs 10.82 lakh and Rs 18.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It takes on the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
