After 12 years on the market, the Volkswagen Up has ceased production, leaving the Polo as the smallest model in the company’s lineup. The last Volkswagen Up was manufactured at the VW Group’s factory in Bratislava, Slovakia. However, remaining units are still available from UK dealerships.

The Volkswagen Up was introduced in 2011 as the successor to the Volkswagen Fox. It initially had a starting price of £8256, making it one of the most affordable cars on the market. Over time, the starting price increased to over £15,000.

Throughout its production run, the Volkswagen Up offered a range of powertrain options. When it first launched, customers could choose between a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 59bhp or 74bhp. In 2016, a facelift brought a turbocharged variant with 89bhp.

In 2014, Volkswagen introduced the electric Volkswagen e-Up with an 18.7kWh battery and a claimed range of 161 miles. From 2019, a larger 32.2kWh battery was offered, increasing the range to 161 miles, surpassing some of its newer competitors.

Earlier this year, the Volkswagen Up GTI, a high-performance variant of the Up, was also discontinued after being temporarily pulled from the market. The GTI featured 113bhp, a sportier design, and a six-speed manual gearbox.

Volkswagen is expected to unveil the new Tiguan in the fall, with the official release slated for next year. The European market will likely receive the Tiguan in the first quarter of the year, while the US market will have to wait a bit longer.

As for pricing, it’s unclear whether the Tiguan’s cost will increase. The current base model starts at $28,245 (including the $1,295 destination charge), and the new model may approach the $30,000 range. BMW M5 Touring Spotted in Spy Photos, Impressive Design Revealed

Cooper Webb and KTM Factory Racing Part Ways: Effective Immediately

After months of speculation, it has been officially announced that Cooper Webb is leaving KTM Factory Racing. Both parties have mutually agreed to part ways immediately.

Ian Harrison, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager, expressed his gratitude to Cooper Webb for their successful partnership. Together, they achieved 52 podium finishes in the 450SX class, including 21 victories. They won the 450SX titles in 2019 and 2021, had a strong second-place finish in 2020, and finished third this year despite Webb’s season-ending crash in Nashville.

Webb had the option to race in the AMA Pro Motocross series in 2023 but decided against it after his season-ending crash in Nashville. However, he later contacted KTM about racing in the MX series, and they agreed to support him for the summer. Unfortunately, a practice crash before RedBud caused Webb to be sidelined once again.

Both Webb and the team have now decided to go their separate ways. This will give Webb time to recover and move on to the next chapter of his racing career. The team and Ian Harrison wish him the best. Webb’s championship bikes and trophies will continue to be proudly displayed in the KTM race shop lobby.

Webb joined Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in 2019 and won his first 450SX Championship in that same year. He then claimed another premier class crown in 2021 riding the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION.

During their partnership from 2019 to 2023, Webb and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing recorded a total of 21 Main Event wins in the 450SX division of the AMA Supercross Championship. They also secured a single round victory in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship 450MX in 2019. The entire team wishes Cooper Webb all the best in his future endeavors.

FTC Proposes Ban On Fake Online Reviews

Fake reviews have become a significant problem, and the new rules proposed by the FTC may not be sufficient to tackle this issue. While it has been against Amazon’s terms of service for years to post false reviews, the company’s efforts to combat this practice by removing sellers and closing accounts have not fully resolved the problem. In fact, Amazon has taken legal action against companies selling fake reviews in an attempt to address the issue.

However, the new rules may fall short due to several reasons. Many companies that engage in buying fake reviews are based abroad and easily evade capture by reappearing under different names. These fake review companies operate on platforms like Facebook and Twitter, providing limited information and being difficult to trace and prosecute.

Moreover, the wording used by these companies makes it challenging to prosecute them. They typically ask “reviewers” to legitimately purchase a product with a promise of full reimbursement and request “honest feedback.” If the feedback is positive, the “reviewers” are politely asked to post it on Amazon or similar websites.

However, while the regulations may have limitations, they represent a step in the right direction. Fake reviews undermine Amazon’s business model and can result in customers being deceived. Furthermore, they harm legitimate small businesses that adhere to the rules and offer quality products.
