XUV 7XO, XUV 5XO, XUV 3XO, and XUV 1XO are the freshly trademarked names and we imagine that Mahindra may use them for his or her merchandise that may have each electrical and ICE (inside combustion engine) powertrains.

Understanding The Names

Like most main manufacturers, Mahindra follows some key pointers whereas arising with names for its fashions. Most of the Indian producer’s fashions finish with the sound of “O”, just like the XUV700, XUV300, and Scorpio. While a few of the names finish with the numbers “00”, Mahindra formally pronounces them as “double O”, and this is likely to be the explanation why Mahindra has trademarked the brand new nomenclature.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO can be utilized for the electrical model of the Mahindra XUV700, which is at the moment often known as the Mahindra XUV e8, because it was formally referred to as when it was showcased in its pre-production type in 2022. However, Mahindra may simply go within the different route and use the brand new trademarked identify.

Similarly, the XUV 3XO can be utilized for the facelifted Mahindra XUV400 which is predicted to be launched someday this 12 months. But, since that mannequin is already available in the market, Mahindra can launch a sub 4-metre model of the XUV400 and use the brand new identify.

The XUV 5XO is predicted to be a Creta-sized electrical SUV that shall be a rival to the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV.

The XUV 1XO, given the “1” within the identify, makes us imagine that it will likely be a smaller SUV, probably a micro-SUV, that shall be a rival to the Punch EV, which at the moment is the one micro electrical SUV in India. Trademark vs Market Launch

Trademarking new automotive names isn’t one thing new for Mahindra because the carmaker not too long ago submitted trademark purposes for the potential names of the upcoming 5-door Thar. 5 Things Mahindra XUV700 Offers Over The Tata Safari Facelift

The new Safari is more feature-rich than ever, but the Mahindra XUV700 still has an edge

The 2023 Tata Safari has undergone comprehensive updates in terms of design, features, and safety. It remains a direct competitor to the 7-seater variants of the Mahindra XUV700. Both Safari and XUV700 offer well-equipped packages, but there are 5 things that the Mahindra SUV offers over its Tata competition.

12-Speaker Sound System

Both Indian SUVs come with premium sound systems in their top variants, but the Mahindra XUV700 has a slight advantage in terms of the number of speakers. It comes with a 12-speaker Sony sound system that has 4 customized acoustic modes. On the other hand, the Tata Safari is equipped with a 10-speaker JBL audio system offering 13 JBL audio modes.

Electric Smart Door Handles

The Mahindra XUV700 features electric smart door handles, which were previously limited to luxury-end products. These door handles sit flat with the body but pop out when the car is unlocked, allowing you to open the door. They automatically pop back into place when the car is locked. In contrast, the Tata Safari has conventional door handle design.

Lane Keep Assist

The Mahindra XUV700 is equipped with lane keep assist as part of its advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite. In comparison, the Tata Safari’s ADAS kit only includes lane departure warning and lane change alert. The lane keep assist feature in the XUV700 prevents the vehicle from drifting into another lane by identifying the road markings through sensors. Tata will be adding this feature to its own ADAS suite for the Safari soon via a software update. For now, the XUV700 has an advantage in this area.

Mahindra Recalls Over 1 Lakh Units of XUV700 and XUV400 EV

Background

Mahindra has announced a recall for two of its SUVs, the XUV700 and XUV400 EV. This is the second recall for the XUV700 since its launch, while it’s the first recall for the XUV400 EV. Over 1 lakh units of the XUV700 and more than 3,500 units of the XUV400 EV are affected by this recall.

Reasons for the Recall

The XUV700 has been recalled due to a potential risk of the wiring loom getting cut in the engine bay, which can lead to overheating issues. The XUV400 EV is suspected to have a fault in the return spring of the brake potentiometer, which can affect the driver’s braking experience.

Inspection and Rectification

Mahindra will reach out to the customers who own the affected vehicles and will conduct inspection and rectification free of cost.

Previous Recall for XUV700

In November 2022, Mahindra recalled over 12,500 units of the XUV700 and Scorpio N due to a defective rubber bellow inside the clutch bell housing of the manual variants. This issue was resolved through a free-of-cost part replacement.

Powertrain Recap

The XUV700 is available with both petrol and diesel engines, offering a range of power outputs and transmission options. The XUV400 EV, on the other hand, is an electric SUV with two battery pack options and a single electric motor.

Price Range

The XUV700 is priced between Rs 14.01 lakh and Rs 26.18 lakh (ex-showroom), while the XUV400 EV starts from Rs 15.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.39 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV700 competes with SUVs like Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari, while the XUV400 EV rivals the Tata Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max.

Here’s How The Mahindra XUV e8 (XUV 700 Electric) Could Look Different From Its Concept Version

The electric version of the Mahindra XUV700 will debut by December 2024

  • The leaked design patent of the XUV700 EV shows it would look quite similar to its concept version.

  • Will get a new nose, different lighting setup, fresh alloys, and bronze elements to differentiate from the ICE version.

  • To be offered with two battery pack options with a range of up to 450 kilometres.

  • An all-wheel drivetrain (AWD) would also be on offer.

The Mahindra XUV.e8 (electric XUV700) is all set to launch in 2025 as one of the earliest mass-market three-row electric cars in India. Ahead of its debut, a patent design image of the XUV.e8 has been leaked, giving us an idea of what the production-spec model could look like.

Minimal Design Changes

The concept version of the XUV.e8 was showcased on August 15, 2022, alongside several other Mahindra electric SUV concepts of different sizes. The design in the patent image looks nearly identical to the concept, complete with the aerodynamically optimised wheels. It essentially looks like the concept version without the black camouflage, but in white colour with bronze accents.

It carries a full length LED DRL strip along the bonnet line which extends downwards like fangs towards the bumpers. The nose looks completely different from the XUV700 (internal combustion engine SUV), sporting a closed grille with patterns. The triangular-shaped headlamp setup looks unique, especially with the ice-cubed LED elements. All the bronze accents are part of the design language for Mahindra EVs as seen on the XUV400.

Two battery packs of 60kWh and 80kWh are expected, with the larger pack offering a WLTP claimed range of 450 kilometres. It will also be able to support fast charging capabilities of up to 175kW.
