Audi RS6 Avant: More Aggressive Model Spotted at the Nurburgring

The Audi RS6 Avant is currently undergoing testing at the Nürburgring in preparation for its latest update. A spy video captures the high-performance wagon in action on the track as well as on the public roads near the circuit.

The updated RS6 Avant showcases a more aggressive design compared to the current model. Notably, the front fenders have been widened, featuring openings at the rear section just ahead of the doors. These openings are likely functional and could contribute to brake cooling or improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics.

Additionally, there are several minor revisions to the front fascia. The bottom opening now extends to the intakes in the corners.

The side sills have also been restyled, displaying a more intricate design.

At the rear, a larger wing is attached to the back of the roof. The rear bumper has been reshaped, while the presence of the oval-shaped exhausts remains.

Nissan Nismo Z Teaser Video Reveals High-Performance Model Drifting

In an exciting announcement, Nissan has finally confirmed the development of the Nismo Z. The company released a captivating 44-second teaser video providing a detailed look at the exterior of the higher-performance model, as well as a glimpse inside the cabin. However, the automaker has not yet announced a specific debut date. Nissan has stated that “full details will be revealed later this summer.”

Compared to the standard Z, the Nismo variant boasts a more aggressive body design. Nissan’s designers have incorporated a prominent front splitter and a red stripe that outlines the lower edge of the body. Additional elements extend the rear spoiler to the fenders, while the new back bumper features a more angular appearance and showcases prominent Nismo branding in the center. The gloss black wheels are adorned with the Nismo emblem as well.

The video briefly reveals the engine bay, which appears to have a similar layout to the existing Z model. However, potential tweaks to the engine cannot be ruled out at this stage, which could potentially increase the current power output of 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

Inside, the Nismo Z boasts heavily bolstered seats with Nismo branding on the headrests and the iconic Recaro badge on the shoulder portion. The Nismo wordmark is also featured as part of the digital instrument cluster graphics. The tachometer’s redline remains at 7,000 rpm, consistent with the existing model. The teaser video suggests that this particular model may be equipped with an automatic gearbox, but it does not provide any indication regarding the availability of a manual transmission option.

The video showcases the Nismo Z being skillfully handled by three-time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg, who effortlessly drifts the car and performs impressive donuts.

Future Toyota Vehicles Could Incorporate AI in Design Process

In 2023, artificial intelligence has become a widely discussed topic, with many industries exploring the potential of machine learning technologies for problem-solving. The automotive industry is no exception, as numerous companies have already integrated AI into various tasks within their research and development divisions. Toyota is now joining this trend by announcing its research on AI-based car design, leveraging its generative artificial intelligence technique developed by the Toyota Research Institute (TRI).

For those concerned, rest assured that your next Tacoma truck will not have an entirely AI-designed exterior. Instead, Toyota aims to utilize this technology during the early stages of the design process, where multiple iterations of a project are necessary for engineering considerations. In other words, if the automaker decides to create a new large two-door coupe, it can request AI to generate a range of initial designs based on specific parameters. The rendering displayed at the top of this article serves as an example, as it was created by artificial intelligence.

Lamborghini Urus To Become Hybrid-Only Starting 2024

Lamborghini is planning to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the Urus SUV in 2024, replacing the current models. This news comes as a surprise, as it was previously expected that the hybrid variant would be offered alongside the traditional versions. CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed to Autocar that the hybridized Urus will become the sole offering by late 2024. The Urus Performante was unveiled in August 2022, followed by the Urus S in September.

The hybrid Urus will be available until the end of the decade, at which point Lamborghini will launch a second-generation, electric-only model. This move towards electrification is in line with the brand’s commitment to meet stringent emissions regulations. The upcoming plug-in hybrid SUV will be Lamborghini’s second PHEV, following the Revuelto, and will be followed by a third PHEV next year with the introduction of the Huracan replacement.

Spectacular Start to the 34th BMW International Open

+++ Molinari, Saddier, and Hoshino leading after the first round +++ Three German players close behind +++ Takumi Kanaya (JPN) hits a hole-in-one +++ Pros raise 22,000 Euro for “Eagles for Education” on Thursday +++ Evening play interrupted by storms

Munich. The BMW International Open 2023 got off to an impressive start. In the morning, Takumi Kanaya from Japan stunned the crowd by hitting a hole-in-one with a 9-iron from 155 meters at the 12th hole. The tournament also featured excellent scores and a competitive leaderboard filled with talented German players, promising an exciting competition until Sunday.

Kanaya, who won this year’s BMW Japan Golf Championship, not only made the shot of the day but also claimed the first eagle of the tournament. In recognition of the eagles scored, the BMW Group pledged to donate 1,000 Euro to the “JOBLINGE” and “Kick ins Leben” organizations. These charitable donations support fair opportunities and educational equality, and on Thursday, the pros managed to record 22 eagles while contributing to a good cause.

At the top of the leaderboard is Edoardo Molinari, one of the European Ryder Cup team’s vice-captains who are competing alongside captain Luke Donald (ENG, -3, T35). Molinari, along with Adrien Saddier from France and Japanese golfer Rikuya Hoshino, secured a share of the lead with a score of 66 strokes (-6).

Molinari expressed satisfaction with his opening round but acknowledged room for improvement in putting. He praised his driving and iron play, aiming to enhance his putting skills and balance aggressiveness and strategy on the challenging pin positions.

A group of German players, including Thomas Rosenmüller, Marc Hammer, and Max Kieffer, is just one shot behind the leaders with a score of five under par. Rosenmüller, playing at his home club, started strong with a round of 67, while Hammer and Kieffer also made an impressive start with four consecutive birdies.

Kieffer particularly expressed his love for the BMW International Open, describing it as his favorite tournament due to its historical significance, special atmosphere, and wonderful crowd. Despite the pressure, he managed to cope well and hoped to maintain momentum for the upcoming rounds.

Notably absent from the leaderboard is the top-placed German player, Yannik Paul, who had a good chance but had to withdraw due to back problems. Additionally, Thomas Bjørn, the two-time BMW International Open winner, couldn’t participate this year as he battles a painful shoulder condition.

Defending champion Haotong Li faced a challenging day, finishing well behind after a double bogey at the first hole and another at the sixth. To make it to the weekend, Li will need an exceptional performance in tomorrow’s round.

The second round of the BMW International Open will commence on Friday morning at 7:30 at the Golfclub München Eichenried. Players who were unable to finish their first rounds on Thursday evening will have the opportunity to catch up on Friday starting from 8:00. “Eagles for Education”: BMW International Open 2023 promotes equal opportunity in education.

+++ BMW Group donates 1,000 euros per eagle during the tournament rounds +++ Donation goes to the “JOBLINGE” and “Kick ins Leben” organisations +++ BMW extends long-term commitment to education and future prospects for all +++ Takumi Kanaya (JPN) hits the first eagle of the tournament with an ace on the 12th hole +++

Munich.
BMW is strengthening its long-term commitment to education with the “Eagles for Education” campaign at the 34th BMW International Open. The BMW Group will donate 1,000 euros for every eagle achieved by the many top-class pros during the week of the tournament at Golfclub München Eichenried. The money will go to the “JOBLINGE” and “Kick ins Leben” organisations, with which the BMW Group has been cooperating in Munich for many years.

With the “Eagles for Education” campaign, BMW Group aims to support underprivileged children and young persons in Munich. The campaign will donate 1,000 euros for every eagle scored during the tournament to the “JOBLINGE” and “Kick ins Leben” organisations. This initiative aligns with BMW’s social responsibility and their efforts to promote better qualifications and educational opportunities for these individuals.

The first eagle of the tournament was achieved by Takumi Kanaya, a Japanese professional golfer, during Thursday’s opening round. Kanaya hit a hole-in-one on the 12th hole, setting a perfect start for the campaign.

The “JOBLINGE” initiative, launched in 2008 by the BMW Group’s Eberhard von Kuenheim Foundation, aims to support low-skilled and unemployed young people through a six-month program. During the program, participants learn on the job, improve their key qualifications, and develop their social skills with the goal of securing a job or training position. The initiative is supported by JOBLINGE staff and voluntary mentors, including BMW employees.

According to the CEO of JOBLINGE, every eagle at the BMW International Open represents new prospects for young people. The partnership between BMW Group and the “Eagles for Education” campaign continues to promote equal opportunities and educational equality, benefiting both the individuals and society as a whole.

The “Kick ins Leben” foundation, in collaboration with the BMW Group since 2019, supports young people facing disadvantages by providing them with early education and guiding them towards successful professional careers. The foundation works with children and youngsters in the Milbertshofen district, where BMW is also located. Together, they create extracurricular education opportunities and a platform for equal opportunities in the professional world. The young people have the opportunity to visit the BMW Group plant in Munich and receive mentoring from BMW employees.

The founder of “Kick ins Leben” expresses gratitude for the longstanding cooperation with the BMW Group, particularly in the disadvantaged Milbertshofen district. This partnership has made a difference in the lives of individuals in need.

BMW has a long-standing commitment to education in golf. Through the BMW Championship in the USA, the company has raised millions of dollars for the “Evans Scholar Foundation” since 2007, funding thousands of college scholarships for caddies.

The “Eagles for Education” campaign now joins BMW’s commitment at the BMW International Open in Munich. In golf, an eagle is achieved when a player takes two shots less than par (the standard score) on a hole. Last year’s BMW International Open saw a total of 73 eagles.

Rolls-Royce Extends Sustainability Partnership with Goodwood Estate

  • Rolls-Royce Motor Cars extends longstanding partnership with Goodwood Estate
  • Range of initiatives to preserve and enhance biodiversity, and benefit the local community
  • New collaboration focuses on tree-planting, study of rare wildlife, measures to help bees and wildflower seeding
  • More than 20,000 trees planted over the course of partnership to date
  • Maintains links with Chichester District Council and important Strategic Wildlife Corridor project

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is extending its longstanding environmental partnership with the Goodwood Estate, with projects designed to benefit wildlife, biodiversity, and the local community.

The Estate, home to the Dukes of Richmond since 1697, extends to 12,000 acres. With over 4,900 acres of forestry and one of the largest lowland organic farms in the UK, it operates traditional land management practices that support diverse habitats for local wildlife.

Rolls-Royce has worked closely with the Estate since it was chosen as the location for the marque’s global headquarters and Centre of Luxury Manufacturing Excellence in 2001. The Rolls-Royce site currently occupies some 42 acres in the south of the Estate, with the company recently announcing proposals to expand on neighboring land to the east. Built with sustainability in mind from the beginning, the Home of Rolls-Royce is itself a pioneering champion of wildlife and biodiversity conservation, through projects including its recently rejuvenated Wildlife Garden, which forms part of the proposed Strategic Wildlife Corridor, and the celebrated Rolls-Royce Apiary with its colony of 250,000 European honeybees.

Since the partnership began, more than 20,000 trees have been planted along the South Downs National Park boundary, benefiting both wildlife and the local community. A variety of mainly native broadleaf species were planted, along with some more unusual species, including disease-resistant elms, planted from cuttings collected on the Estate. In order to minimize waste, no single-use plastic tree guards were used in the planting scheme.

Following traditional methods, volunteers from Rolls-Royce have laid a stretch of native-species hedgerow at the Wildlife Garden, under the guidance of Chichester District Council’s Wildlife Corridor Project Officer. This will help to link the Estate with other important habitats, as well as providing a safe haven for the resident wildlife and a valuable source of nourishment for those creatures traveling along the wildlife corridor.

The new, extended collaboration with the Goodwood Estate focuses on continuing this legacy of sustainability and preserving and enhancing biodiversity through nature-based solutions.

Specific projects include a joint study together with a local chiropterologist into the flight patterns of the rare and elusive Barbastelle bats that live on the Estate. Monitoring the bats’ movements between their roosts and their feeding grounds around Chichester Harbour to the south has already led Chichester District Council to adjust the route of its proposed Strategic Wildlife Corridor, which now includes part of the Rolls-Royce site. The study will run throughout 2023.

Rolls-Royce has also supported the Estate’s investment in a custom-built, mechanized wildflower seed harvester, which will enter service this year. This special harvester will enable seeds from a wider variety of species to be gathered easily and efficiently, before they are subsequently planted on the Estate’s grasslands and around the Rolls-Royce site.

“We are proud to continue our work with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars to create a lasting legacy of biodiversity in this beautiful and biodynamically diverse corner of West Sussex. Our joint approach creates a bountiful environment for all wildlife with a special focus on nurturing and protecting rare and threatened species. Additionally, we create an environment for local people and the millions of visitors to the Estate to enjoy for many generations to come.”
Lloyd McNeill, Estate Managing Director, The Goodwood Group
