Aston Martin Plans to Release Four Electric Vehicles That Will Not Replace Existing Internal Combustion Engine Models

Aston Martin’s previous attempts at electric vehicles, the Rapide E and Lagonda Vision Concept, were cancelled. However, the company is now more determined than ever to sell zero-emission cars and has improved financially due to significant investments. To prepare for their electric future, Aston Martin has partnered with Lucid.

In an announcement earlier this week, it was revealed that future electric vehicles will utilize electric motors and battery modules from Lucid. Aston Martin’s chairman, Lawrence Stroll, stated that the company has plans to introduce four electric vehicles in the next few years. The first one is expected to be released in 2025 and is likely to be a coupe-styled SUV, although details are scarce.

It is important to note that these upcoming electric vehicles will be in addition to Aston Martin’s current lineup and will not replace existing internal combustion engine models.

New 2024 Ferrari SF90 XX: A Powerful Racer for the Road

The 2024 Ferrari SF90 XX is a plug-in hybrid flagship that incorporates all the technical features typically found in a track-only XX car, according to Enrico Galliera, the marketing and commercial head of Ferrari. The car includes the lightest seats ever fitted in a Ferrari, resulting in a 10kg weight reduction compared to the conventional SF90 Stradale. The SF90 XX Spider weighs 1660kg.

Ferrari hasn’t revealed the lap time achieved by the SF90 XX around Fiorano, but Galliera stated that the performance improvement compared to the regular SF90 is substantial. As a result, Ferrari plans to hold a dedicated announcement event later this year. The regular SF90 currently holds the record for road cars at the circuit, completing a lap in 1:19.00.

The starting price for the SF90 XX was €770,000 (£660,000) for the Stradale coupe and €850,000 (£730,000) for the Spider. However, all 1398 units (799 Stradales and 599 Spiders) have already been sold to Ferrari’s most loyal clients. Deliveries of the Stradale will begin in the second quarter of 2024, followed by the Spider in the final quarter of next year.

SF90 XX: A Surprise Addition

Ferrari originally did not plan to develop a more focused version of the SF90, as they believed they had already pushed the limits of available technology during its development. According to Galliera, it typically takes a year to develop a new product, and the same was true for this car.

He stated, “The project was even more complex than usual because when we conceived the SF90, we didn’t anticipate creating an evolution of it. That’s why we call it a supercar. Normally, a supercar aims to achieve the highest level of technology at that moment. Thus, improving the SF90 further, considering its existing performance, was not an easy task. So, essentially, it took the same amount of time, but the effort was tremendous.”

Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale And Spider Debut Making 1,016 HP

Ferrari has introduced the SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider, two high-performance models that can be driven on public roads. Unlike Ferrari’s previous XX models, which were exclusively for the track, these new models are designed for both on-road and track use. However, they will be produced in limited quantities, with only 799 hardtops and 599 droptops being made.

Mechanical Upgrades

Both the SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider are equipped with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine which is supplemented by three electric motors. Two of the electric motors are placed on the front axle, while the third is located between the engine and the transmission. This powertrain configuration allows for a total output of 1,016 horsepower, an increase from the standard SF90 Stradale’s 986 horsepower.

Plymouth Superbird and Ford Torino Talladega Barn Finds: Classic Race Cars Discovered

During the late 1960s, NASCAR was a hotbed of fierce competition among automakers. These were the days of the aero wars, with manufacturers pushing the limits of vehicle design to gain an edge on the racetrack. It was during this time that road cars closely resembled their race car counterparts. Recently, an exciting barn find uncovered a collection of high-performance race cars from this era.

This impressive collection includes several American-made models from the late 1960s. One standout is a 1969 Charger Daytona, painted in the iconic B5 Blue with a white stripe and blue interior. This vehicle is already undergoing restoration, along with several others in the collection. However, the barn also houses some rarer gems for enthusiasts to discover. Among them are several Plymouth Superbirds, known for their distinct big wings and aerodynamic noses. Some of these Superbirds are already being worked on, with one having its vinyl roof and nose removed. Additionally, one of the Superbirds featured a four-speed gearbox, while the rest were equipped with a 440-cubic-inch V8 engine and automatic gearboxes.

Also present in the collection are several 1969 Ford Torino Talladegas, which were a more aerodynamic version of the car. The Mercury variant, known as the Cyclone Spoiler, is also part of this barn find. These Torino Talladegas were produced in limited numbers, with rumors suggesting that less than 800 were made in the first few months of 1969. As a result, these cars are quite rare and highly sought after. They came in three different colors and featured power steering, power brakes, and an AM radio.

While not every car in the collection is destined for restoration, many of them are in decent enough condition to be revitalized. Unfortunately, there is a burnt-out Superbird that is beyond repair. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to think that there could be more NASCAR-related treasures hiding in barns across the country. It’s incredible how many forgotten or abandoned vehicles are out there, waiting to be appreciated by new owners. Though they may require some work, few of these cars are beyond salvage.

Preview of the New Hardcore Ferrari SF90 Unveiled Ahead of June 29

In an unusual move, Ferrari has released a teaser of the upcoming hardcore version of the SF90 Stradale. This preview not only reveals some of the car’s bold design details but also announces its world premiere date: tomorrow, June 29, at 12 PM CEST (10 AM GMT or 6 AM ET). While the actual name is yet to be revealed, it is speculated that the car might be called the SF90 LM and could be Ferrari’s response to Porsche’s RS models.

Recent spy shots have already hinted at the SF90’s track-focused nature, and now the teaser confirms that it will come equipped with a comprehensive aerodynamic package. The image reveals a large carbon fiber wing, red accents for the hood vents and Ferrari lettering at the rear, as well as the inside of the exhaust pipe. With these aero elements, the SF90 promises to deliver impressive downforce, making it an exceptional road car bearing the iconic Prancing Horse badge.

2024 Honda Odyssey Revealed in Spy Photos, with Front and Rear Changes

The Honda Odyssey, known for its reliability and spaciousness, is set to receive an update. While the changes are not drastic, they aim to refresh the vehicle’s appearance. Recently, spy photos of the upcoming 2024 Honda Odyssey have emerged, providing a sneak peek of what’s to come.

Although the minivan’s front section is concealed under camouflage, we can still discern some key details. Additionally, the lower portion of the front fascia features new notches, adding an interesting touch to the design.

You Can Only Book The Top-end Maruti Invicto Strong Hybrid Ahead Of July 5 Launch

The Invicto will feature a panoramic sunroof, ADAS, and a strong-hybrid powertrain

  • Bookings for the Invicto were recently opened and the website only offers one variant option.

  • It is the fully-loaded Alpha+ variant with the strong hybrid powertrain.

  • The Invicto is equipped with a 2-litre petrol engine and strong-hybrid technology that could provide a fuel economy of around 23kmpl.

  • The top-end variant will come with a 10-inch touchscreen system, ventilated front seats, dual-zone AC, 360-degree camera, and ADAS.

  • The expected price for the single fully loaded variant is around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

The bookings for the Maruti Invicto are now open and its prices will be announced on July 5. It is based on the Toyota Innova Hycross and will offer the same powertrains and features. However, the Maruti Nexa booking portal suggests that the MPV will only be available in a single top-end trim – the Alpha+ strong hybrid at launch.

Why might Maruti not offer more variants of the Invicto?

The Innova Hycross, upon which the Maruti Invicto is based, is available in six broad variants. The Hycross is in high demand and the soaring waiting period has forced Toyota to temporarily stop taking fresh orders for the top-end strong-hybrid variants. Since Maruti is essentially sharing the Innova Hycross, high waiting times of the latter could be a primary reason for the Invicto to not have multiple variants at launch.

Invicto hybrid details

This also suggests that the Invicto won’t get the combustion-only 2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine option, whose variants would have also been more affordable.. The hybrid powertrain that it will offer is rated at 186PS and 206Nm, while being mated with an e-CVT (single-speed transmission). The Hycross claims an efficiency of up to 23.24kmpl and we’re expecting similar figures for the Invicto.

Feature-loaded only

The flagship Maruti will feature panoramic sunroof, a 10-inch touchscreen system, dual-zone AC, ventilated front seats, and second-row powered Ottoman seats. Features like six airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and ADAS will take care of the safety.

If the Maruti Invicto is actually coming in a single fully loaded variant, expect its prices to be around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be positioned as a premium MPV alternative to the Kia Carens, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV700.
